High-quality stereo recording in all environments

In order to securely capture every sound and voice, the recorder features Omni-directional stereo microphones which capture sound from all directions, even when recording from your pocket. The recorder has low noise, high-quality microphones in its compact slim body.

"Anti-Rustle" filter reduces surface friction while recording in your pocket

Olympus' unique "Anti-Rustle" filter technology identifies the difference between voice and rustling sound by its characteristics and effectively suppresses the noise only. This removes the rustling noise generated when operating the recorder from in your pocket, to achieve a low-noise, clear sound.

Low-cut filter eliminates extraneous noise

During recording, the low-cut filter can be used to cut the sound at frequencies of 300 Hz and lower, typical examples of this being the sound of air conditioners or projector fans. This filter also proves effective when recording outside to minimise noise from wind. Cutting the lower frequency during recording ensures natural-sounding recordings without distortion during playback. The low-cut filter can be turned ON or OFF as required, depending on your recording environment.

Compatible with various recording formats

Select from three recording formats: the high-quality unsuppressed Linear PCM format (22.05kHz); the versatile MP3 format, which is used by both Windows and Mac users; or WMA format, which has good sound quality even at a lower bit rate.

An impressive array of playback functions

The VP-10 is equipped with improved noise cancellation technology to strongly cut out background noise from recorded voice, and two new Playback Scene modes. "Transcription" mode is convenient for when you want to create minutes or notes from your meeting recordings, and the "Language Study" mode is helpful when learning a foreign language.

Improved Voice Balancer

When a recording contains multiple speakers, the Voice Balancer feature makes softer voices louder, while keeping louder voices below a given level, ensuring that playback is clear and consistent. This comes in handy when recording sound sources from multiple positions, such as when in a large meeting or conference. Since the voice filter operates simultaneously, the prominent noise produced when amplifying small sounds is reduced. By eliminating the low and high-frequency ranges of a recording, the speaker's voice is even further enhanced.

Create meeting minutes efficiently with "Transcription" mode

"Transcription" mode is convenient when you want to create minutes from your meeting recordings. While transcribing, it is necessary to frequently repeat play and stop to check the content. As such, when resuming playback, the recorder will automatically playback from 3 seconds before playback was stopped so that you can easily review the content you need. The fast forward function is set to a preset 2.0x speed so that you can conveniently skip the silences in your recording. Furthermore, the Voice Balancer helps to normalise the audio level when recording speakers with different volume levels in a meeting.

"Language Study" mode convenient for learning foreign languages

"Language Study" mode is helpful for when you want to learn a foreign language. To repeatedly review the content of your recording, reverse skip is preset to 3 seconds. Thanks to this function, it is not necessary to hold down the reverse button, as a simple push will reverse for 3 seconds. Furthermore, the ability to conveniently skip through the recording enhances learning efficiency. Forward skip is preset to 10 seconds while fast forward is preset to 2.0x for ideal playback listening.

Convenient Fast or Slow Playback

With fast or slow playback, the speed change is processed digitally, thus the pitch is not altered resulting in the voice remaining as recorded. The playback speed can be adjusted between a range of ×0.5 (slowest) and ×2 (fastest). The ability to change the playback speed is particularly useful when you want to quickly check meeting recordings, or when recordings need to be listened to repeatedly such as with language study. The playback speed settings are retained even when the recorder power is off, making it convenient to resume.

Usability

The recorder has many features for ease-of-use, such as "One-Touch Recording" that silently and quickly activates recording, and "Pocket" mode which is effective for recording a wide range of voices from your pocket.

Simple, instant operation with "One-Touch Recording"

Simply slide down the REC switch – the voice recorder instantly starts recording even when the power is off. The switch is located on the top of the recorder, which is convenient when recording from your shirt pocket. You can blindly operate the VP-10 voice recorder so that you never miss a conversation again.

Direct USB connection without a cable

The body of the VP-10 includes a built-in USB connector to let you connect directly to a computer merely by removing the cover. Not only can you easily save and share your recordings via your computer without the need for cable or software, you can also recharge the unit from the PC without having to remove the batteries from the device. The recorder can also be used as a USB memory device.

Five recording scene modes, including "Pocket" mode

At a simple selection from the menu, you can choose optimum recording settings according to specific scenes. Pocket Mode is effective for recording a wide range of voices when the device is in your pocket. With Dictation, Conference, Meeting or DNS modes, you can easily capture fail-proof, high-quality recordings.

File divide function

The File Divide function is useful when you want to manage your recordings in a separate file. It is also handy if you would like to downsize the file before sending it via e-mail. (Only with Linear PCM and MP3 format files.)

Convenient clip attachment

Thanks to the sleek design and convenient clip attachment, you can simply clip the voice recorder to the inside of your shirt pocket, attach it to your notebook, or anywhere else to easily record without distracting the speaker.

For discreet recording

For discreet recording users are able to set the beep sound and speaker output to off. Furthermore, the backlight and LED can also be disabled to be less visible and distracting.

Compatible with AAA batteries.
The recorder is compatible with standard AAA batteries. Not only can you use the rechargeable batteries bundled with the recorder, you can also replace them with alkaline batteries, so you never have to worry about running out of power when out and about.
